Many job seekers who have great desire for a job would love to send a larger number of online applications, but their applications may fall on the deaf ears of the HR. Sometimes it is not because of your professional qualifications or has zero work experience, it is most likely due to the submission time is not appropriate.
As Human Resources is a supportive department, so HR always tries to reduce the time of reading resume as much as possible. Then how to send your resume to HR at the right time, so that your resume is not overwhelmed?
In general, there are two peak periods for resume submission:
- The first or second day of the advertisement is just released;
- The first few pages of job postings that are searched from the result.
According to our online habits, many job seekers would love to choose from the first few pages of the search results that causes the number of received resumes in those jobs were much higher than the ads that followed.
Specifically, the period between 9am to 11am on Wednesday is the best. HR generally does not process mail during nonworking days, so the closer the delivery time is to the weekend, the lower the response rate. HR usually plans and summarizes work on Mondays and Fridays, and many meetings are also scheduled on these two days.
Therefore, two days before and after the weekend, the HR will have less time to read resumes. The ads are always posted on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then HR will start to screen resumes and contact candidates.
The data shows that the mail response rate for the same time period on Thursday is 12% higher than on Friday. As for the best submission time of the day, it is best to choose during 9:00 to 11:00 in the morning, and between 13:30 and 15:30 in the afternoon.
If you want to increase the chance of being selected, you must avoid the peak period and pay more attention to positions that others ignored.
